Choral

Please read the General Rules, all of which apply here.

Specific Rules

  1. Choirs must be made up of 13 or more choristers.
  2. 5% of the choir membership may exceed the specific age limit, by no more than two (2) years.
  3. Choirs will perform two (2) contrasting selections, one of which may be a folk song.
  4. Brief solo passages are allowed.

Special Notes

  1. It is the responsibility of the choir director to choose appropriate music selections.
  2. The Prince George & District Music Festival is a qualifying regional festival for the Performing Arts BC Festival. Performers in any class may, at the discretion of the adjudicator, be recommended to this festival.
  3. It is the responsibility of the choir director to be familiar with Performing Arts BC Festival qualifications (i.e., participation, submission of tapes, registration fees, awards, categories of classes, presentation and performance, and equipment). Rules and regulations are available on request from the Festival committee or from the Performing Arts BC website at www.performingartsbc.ca.
  4. Each choir will receive a recording of their performance. These recordings will be available to the choir director after the close of the choral competition
  5. Risers will be available.

Adjudication Format

  1. Adjudication will immediately follow each class.
  2. Please indicate on the entry form if you wish to perform non-competitively.
  3. Medals will be awarded for all first class performances. If no performers in a class reach first class standard, no medals will be given. Decisions are the sole prerogative of the adjudicator.
  4. Choirs recommended to the Performing Arts BC Festival will be required to prepare and compete at their own expense.
